Dr. Malathi Veeraraghavan [University of Virginia]

Malathi Veeraraghavan holds a joint faculty position in the departments of Computer Science and Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia as Associate Professor. She also serves as the Director of Computer Engineering. Dr. Veeraraghavan received her BTech degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (Madras) in 1984, and MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Duke University in 1985 and 1988, respectively. After a ten-year career at Bell Laboratories, she served on the faculty at Polytechnic University, Brookyln, New York from 1999-2002. Her current research work on optical networks is supported by NSF. She holds twenty-two patents and has received five Best-paper awards. She is an active member of the IEEE Communications Society and served as the Technical Program Committee Chair for IEEE ICC 2002.
