Dr. Wu-Chun Feng [Los Alamos National Laboratory]

Wu-Chen Feng -- or simply "Wu" -- is a technical staff member and team leader of Research & Development in Advanced Network Technology (RADIANT) in the Computer & Computational Sciences Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory and a fellow of the Los Alamos Computer Science Institute. He is also a chief scientist (on a consulting basis) for Orion Multisystems, a company that builds desktop supercomputers inspired by Dr. Feng's "Green Destiny: A 240-Node Supercomputer in Five Square Feet." His research interests span the broad area of high-performance networking and computing, particularly in support of clusters and grids, and has resulted in over 100 refereed publications. Of particular note are his recent contributions in power-aware supercomputing, 10-Gigabit Ethernet, and high-speed bioinformatics, contributions which led him (in part) to be named to HPCwire's 2004 Top People & Organizations to Watch List. He received a B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Music (Honors) and an M.S. in Computer Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 1988 and 1990, respectively. He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1996. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
