Dr. Mehran Esfandiari [SBC]

Mehran Esfandiarai is a Lead Member of Technical Staff in SBC Communications in San Ramon, California.  He has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications and has worked in various capacities in Pacific Bell and SBC. His main focus has been on transport technologies Planning, Architecture, Optimization,  Survivability, and Technology selection & Approval.  Currently he leads teams responsible for integration strategies for new and existing technologies for all regions of SBC,  and the evaluation and impact of new SONET, DCS & DWDM technologies.  He also leads optimization & survivability project teams to improve the embedded  SBC network, and to enhance transport network designs and Tools. He has many publications in these fields, including invited papers, technical presentations &  workshops. He is also a member of the Technical Program Advisory Committee of NFOEC/OFC 2005. Mehran holds an BSEE and MSEE degree from UCLA in Los Angeles, California.
